The Rose of the North

December 03, 2008
Chiang Mai nightlife has a unique Chiang Mai character. It reflects the more relaxed rural atmosphere of Thailand's "Rose of the North." It's less "seedy" and more "fun." It's more conservative and respectful and definitely more easy going.

You may have seen dancers taking tips and folding the bills in their garters etc. This is generally not acceptable behavior in Chiang Mai due to the fact that the picture of Thailand's revered and beloved King is on the bills. Have you ever seen a go go dancer refuse a tip out of respect for their King?!! Welcome to Chiang Mai nightlife.

The atmosphere at Club Foxy Lady reflects this "low pressure" attitude. No one is pressured to drink or hassled by the ladies if you prefer to take your time or just be left alone. The Foxy ladies are mostly country girls who are genuinely friendly and warm hearted. The strong Thai- Chinese and Hill Tribe influence in the North of Thailand earns it the well deserved reputation of having the most beautiful ladies in the world. This combined with the easy going and friendly rural nature of Chiang Mai gives us the most favorable climate for enjoyable nightlife Chiang Mai style.

Ohh No.... Not Again!

November 29, 2008
Well they are at it again in Bangkok. This time the People’s Alliance for Democracy has closed down both the international airport, Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and also the domestic airport, Don Muang (DMK). So what now? People are trying to leave the country whatever way they can. Whether it’s by a long, long bus journey to another country to catch a flight or the option of taking a train across the border in the south. Options for flights remain in Vientiane Laos, Phnom Penh Cambodia, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, Hanoi or Saigon in Vietnam, or even as far away as Singapore. These are more expensive options and for the most part quite a few of the buses and trains are fully booked.

I guess the cheapest option would be to just stay put if possible and have as much fun as you can! Business at Foxy has dropped off since the takeover of the airports meaning that now there are lots of girls and few customers.

So what’s up with Chiang Mai? Well, Chiang Mai is the home of the current and Prime Minister and a stronghold for government supporters. I highly doubt that we will see any chaos here. Anti government protesters are not really welcomed up this way so I don’t see any disruptions or dangers in the north or northeast for that matter. Business is as usual here and unless you are paying attention to the news you would not even notice anything different about this beautiful city.

And on another positive note, there are lots and lots of vacancies all over the country. People are canceling there holidays left and right leaving hotels and guesthouses virtually empty. This is great for the budget traveler as there are some great deals to be had out there. Make sure you drive a hard bargain and you will get a great deal on a room, especially in Chiang Mai.

Moving on, the weather has now turned cool and crisp. It’s a wonderful change. Almost reminds me a bit about Christmas back home in New England. No snow though….. Walking around in the evenings you will certainly need a jacket or jumper and will definitely need one if you are driving around on a motorbike. It’s a welcome change, living in the north of Thailand you can still get the feeling of the seasons changing. Just a little bit of home in the Land of Smiles.

Loi Khratong Chiang Mai - 2008

November 02, 2008
Chiang Mai nightlife latches on to any opportunity to party. When we run out of excuses for a party we just make them up. Foxy Lady has celebrated "Blue Beard's Wedding Anniversary" at least 6 times this year, not to mention the Coronation of the Caboose Queen etc.

But a truly magnificent holiday is Loy Kratong celebrated in mid- November each year.
Thousands of lanterns fueled by the hot air from candles light the night sky. The idea is to release your sins and worries. Chiang Mai's Night Bazaar and the area along the Ping River (which flows through Chiang Mai) and Narawat Bridge attract thousands of residents and visitors who send up their lanterns and float beautiful "kratongs" decorated with flowers and candles down the river. Fireworks are also everywhere. It's an incredible sight you don't want to miss and one of the most exciting festivals in Asia.

This Nov. 12, Foxy will be sending up lanterns and shooting off fireworks and you are all invited to join us and participate in this unique experience of Chiang Mai Nightlife that you won't forget. See you there.

Foxy Lady Halloween Party - 2008

November 02, 2008
Although Halloween is not a Thai holiday, it just too much fun for Chiang Mai nightlife to ignore. Chiang Mai found many Americans as well as other farangs dressing for the festivities and the beautiful Foxy Ladies joined in the fun as well. Flashing "devils" horns, crazy wigs and the grand entrance of "Daddy Dan" in his full on pimp outfit made Foxy one of the places to stop for the special brand of light-hearted "fun" nightlife for which Chiang Mai is famous.

This Halloween Foxy had a large group from Amsterdam join us (the men together with their ladies) and without costumes they became the life of the party. Viva la Amsterdam. Viva la Foxy Lady !!!!

What a Great Month in Chiang Mai!

October 30, 2008

It has been a little strange though. For the last two weeks we were getting nightly showers; well not really showers but absolute tropical downpours! On Thursday last week it rained so hard in a short period of time that the street outside Foxy was actually a raging torrent! I was afraid the water was actually going to come in and flood the club. Luckily though the storm drains are adequate in our area and the water receded about two inches away from coming into Foxy. On a positive side though it was raining so hard no one wanted to leave the club. Sometimes rain can be good for business!

This was highly unusual to get this much rain so close to the end of the rainy season. It has been dry for the last few days so it looks good for Loy Krathong coming up at the beginning of next month.

Aside from the rain Foxy has been doing well this month. Tourist numbers in Chiang Mai are actually up and we have more girls now than ever. I have also done a few renovations inside the club. For anyone who has been to the club before I am sure the changes will be the first thing you notice.

What’s Going on in Thailand?

October 12, 2008
I’m sure most of you know about the political turmoil in Bangkok. It’s the same story: One side doesn’t like the other side and vice versa; typical politics. Anyway, this is having a great affect here in Chiang Mai. It seems that the problems plaguing Bangkok has actually driven tourism to other parts of the country; namely Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Phuket.

In the last week we have seen a noticeable increase in customers and at the same time a very nice increase in the amount of girls now working at Foxy. They both go hand in hand; more customers = more girls and more girls = more customers. Can’t have one without the other!

So if you have a trip planned for Thailand don’t worry, this will blow over like most everything else. If you were in Chiang Mai now you would see absolutely no change in daily life. Things are rolling along just as smooth as normal and problems in other parts of the country rarely affect the north. And best of all the rain has stopped and blue skies and beautiful temps are here every day! So come on by, Chiang Mai will always be friendly and welcoming no matter whats going on.

We Are Having Another Party This Saturday at Foxy Lady!

October 01, 2008
It's party time again! This Saturday, October 4th Foxy Lady is going to be having another half off drinks all night. It'll start at 8pm and go till late.

Last time was such a success and all the girls around Chiang Mai talked about it after. This time there should be even more ladies and an even bigger party.

So come by and join the hashers, expats and the ladies of Chiang Mai. It'll be another great party!

See you there.

Fun Fun Fun

Beer Was Almost FREE! What a Party!

September 13, 2008
Last night was Foxy Lady’s first ever half off promotion night. Drinks were half off all night! I came up with this idea after a night on the piss. So on Wednesday I told some of the local hashers and Teakdoor members in Chiang Mai that Friday night we will be having a special thank you party for the local guys in Chiang Mai. I never thought word of mouth would travel so fast. We were packed all night! Everyone was having a great time and there were lots of girls who came back to work just for this party.

We will definitely be doing this again sometime. It will be unscheduled and I will announce it within a few days of the party.

Cheers!
